Talakadu

Talakadu is one of the tourist place situated on the banks of kaveri river in mysore district, about 45km from mysore . Historically it was ruled by many south indian dynasties. The prominent were gagas, cholas, hoysalas and mysore wodeyars. Talakadu is also tagged to the curse called “Curse of Talakad” by Alamelamma on the Wodeyar dynasty of Mysore. It is said the old talakadu town is submerged under the sand dunes around 17th  century. Many temples too happened to be under the cover of sand. Today we can visit the temples and get blessings of lord shiva. Panchalinga darshan happens in talakad once in twelve years.
It is well connected by road. A good place to visit.
